The Splendid Sampler – Block 1 Hearts Aflutter
Today marks the release of the first Splendid Sampler ™ block – Hearts Aflutter by Pat Sloan.
The block pattern can be downloaded here.
I will be making the 100 blocks in my collection of French General fabrics from 2009 – 2015. I have been waiting for a special project and the Splendid Sampler ™ is prefect to show off these gorgeous prints.
Needle turned appliqué is my favourite of all the appliqué techniques. I like the soft, dimensional look it gives a block. Visit the techniques page of The Splendid Sampler for some links to some great tutorials.
Look out for my block on 18th February. It might just give you butterflies.

Jane, I love your FG fabric choices. If someone has not been hoarding those lovely fat quarters, where would you recommend getting them? About how many fat quarters would you recommend we have for our Splendid Sampler quilt?

Hi Trudi, thank you. I have been collecting them since 2009 so I really don’t where you would start. I am sure the newest releases will be available on line or at your local quilt shop. Have a look in the FAQ page in http://www.splendidsampler.com site. We talk about recommended numbers of FQ.
