Moda Love Quilt sew-along

Jan 27, 2019 by quiltjane 20 Comments

Valentines Day is around the corner so it’s time to get the quilting love on and sew-long with Moda. This versatile design can be made into a block (mini) or a larger quilt using a layer cake and some yardage.

Download the pattern here

Remember to add hashtags #modalovequilt #showmethemoda #sewalongwithmoda and follow on Instagram for inspiration.

I added some more ‘Love’ to the block. When I first looked at the block pattern I could see a heart in the design, much like those images you stare at that contain another image.

Here is a coloured outline of the block.

The block finishes at 16″ x 16″.

I think I have to make a quilt from these blocks or go big and do one 72″ x 72″ block. I will see where my quilting heart leads me ……..

Hi Sheila, they are all 2″ finished squares. To make the HST, I used 5 1/4″ squares.

I have a layer cake of Bloomsbury I am hoping to make into this pattern. One of those computer programs where I can move things around would sure be helpful – I’m terrified of cutting a square that I might need whole !!!😬

I’m still new at quilting and am not sure how to create the top of the heart (the red/white/blue) How do you create it?? Half square triangles?

Hi Teresa, make an HST and then place a square right sides together with HST.https://www.bonjourquilts.com/quarter-square-triangles/

Hi Sandy, I used the original pattern from the Moda website and added in pieces to make the heart.
