Froggies on The Pond

Feb 10, 2013 by quiltjane 13 Comments

A few weeks ago I blogged about Sarah Fielke’s designer collection for Spotlight. After waiting patiently for it to arrive at my local Spotlight store, I purchased 1 1/2m of the black and white frog eggs and a FQ of each of the range to make a small quilt or wall hanging.
The lily pad was created using pieced circles and appliquéing each one to a 4-patch background. The frogs were fused in place and secured with Superior invisible thread.
The quilting was a combination of a digital pattern and freehand done in 4 beautiful Aurifil threads that I thought matched the fabrics.

Aurifil 50wt cotton Mako 1148 (Light Jade), 2437 Light Peony, 5015 (Gold Yellow/Lime), 4020 (Fushia).

Bound in Michael Miller Clown Stripe in Lime and backed with Anna Griffin Caroline collection by Windham Fabrics in pale pink.

Is the fabric quality of that line better than the usual quilting fabrics at Spotlight?

Beautiful quilt Jane! I was thinking about just getting some of the black frogs eggs for background fabric.
