Two for one – Double Sided Quilt

My beautiful neighbour has been working over the last few days on making a comfort quilt for her friend.
I love the vibrant colours used for the background of the heart. They are a collection of Sketch, Art Gallery Pure Elements, Kaufman Quilters Linen and Moda Bella Solids from my stash. The appliqued heart is made from Lipari oakshott cottons.

The quilting pattern is a digital design – Rapunzal, using Aurifil 50wt cotton 1248 on top and in bobbin.

The pattern is from Issue 12 of Fatquarterly e-zine.

The back is a combination of Laura Gunn, Moda solids, Kaufman quilters linen, Marbles and Sketch. The appliqued star is made from Parson Gray – Curious Nature and Lipari Oakshott cottons.

The pattern is from the ModaBakeShopWeekend with the Stars

The quilt will find its new home tomorrow. May it always bring comfort and perpetuate the love that it has been made with.

Oh my word, it's gorgeous. I normally prefer bright colours but oddly the back appeals even more than the front 🙂 I love the effect of the quilting on greys in particular.

I love the way you made the heart and star. I think I will borrow that idea. I have a baby quilt – unfinished because it somehow got a stain on it that won't wash out. The stain is only on one side, the side with 2 paper-pieced hearts with the points together. The hearts are in the centre; the stain is at one end of the quilt but off-centre. I think I will put the same 'object' (whatever I decide to create) on both ends – the one not covering the stain I will put on the other side … so one object on the left side covering the stain, the other on the right at the other end.
