New Pattern release – The Seed Thief
I love birds and especially the dynamic of how they relate to each other. I have seen them nurture the sick and disenfranchised birds of the flock and I have seen them assert their status on other birds to be the first to steal the seed I leave in the bird feeder.
The feisty rainbow lorikeet rules the bird feeder and makes the crows, parrots, cockatoos and bush turkeys cower with fear. When the lorikeets have had their fill, the feeders are swooped upon by all the other birds patiently waiting in the surrounding gumtrees.
This quilt pattern reflects the wonderment of watching the ‘Seed thieves’ as they all compete for the seed. Dive into your scrap basket or use your favourite pre-cuts to create your own avian story.
The pattern can be downloaded here.
I lie paying with mockups in different colour ways.
You could make it Christmassy
Or red and white
Or a bold dark background.
I quite like dots so, I used a Paper Rifle & Co layer cake + some yardage and a black dot on silver fabric for the background with my favourite black and white binding fabric.
I left no waste – With the off cuts I made a matching pillow.
I would love to see photos of The Seed Thief quilts made by you.
