How I love Blue and White quilts
Cleaning out my quilt room to herald the new year, I found my beloved blue and white Aurifil BOM 2015 blocks. These were 12 mini quilts I fashioned into a 75″ x 75″ quilt for my nephew and his wife (also a blue lover). I was captivated by the digitally printed fabrics from Hawthorne threads – Bengal and Etched, as they provided so many possibilities for fussy cutting within the blocks.
I really cannot choose a favourite but I do have a soft spot for churn dashes and the baskets are very cute.
Sashed with fussy cut strips from the two collections (The tiger’s eyes follow you around the room). Quilted with Aurifil #40 wt white thread. Backed with Moda Bella 9900-19 royal blue.
Designer posts with downloadable patterns can be found here.
Now onto another WIP …. what’s on your cutting table today?

Well Jane, I have to agree the baskets and churndash blocks are also my favorite. It tend to favor baskets. What I have on my cutting table is a 10 year old Judy Niemeyer paper pieced quilt. I signed it up in our Quilt Guild UFO challenge. If I don’t complete it I have to pay money. I am little afraid I will be donating to the guild. Would love to win the giveaway book.

I love the quilts. I’m a very much newbie. I can barely thread the sewing machine. Quilting is something I’ve wanted to learn to do since the first time I watched Alex Anderson on HGTV. Unfortunately I’ve had many, many other priorities that had to have my attention. I’m at that place in my life that I have all kinds of time so I’ve bought lots of fabric (my husband thinks I’m nuts) and I’m building up my stock. Tomorrow I’m making another go around with the sewing machine and this time I’ll be the winner! I’m going to work on my skills before I even start to make a REAL project. I’ll let you know how it goes! Beverly
