The Splendid Sampler™ – Block 7
Amy Sinibaldi – NanaCompany has created the cutest stitchery. Download the 7th Splendid Sampler block, Snug as a Bug, here.
I have used folk art paints mixed with a textile medium and painted the child, toys and quilt then embellished with different embroidery stitches. The background is a French General yellow solid.
I love embroidery but my skills are a little rusty so I turn to the internet, friends and books to learn more about the craft. My favourite books are the A-Z series. Vol I and II of embroidery stitches have step by step photos of every stitch.

Jane, I LOVE LOVE your rendition of this block! Did you have to heat set the color? Is it going to be color fast? I was going to do the same but use crayons instead.. Do you know a brand name of the “textile medium” you used that is available in the states?

Thank you so much Debbie. It’s an acrylic paint and textile medium by Jo Sonja. You do have to heat set when dry.
