The Scary Mary Pillow

I finally finished Mary’s Scary Mary Pillow for Halloween. Mary is a Halloween devotee and hopefully this pillow will be dusted off each year and placed on the lounge.

I drew the skull onto a piece of white bella solid using the Pentel Gel Roller Fabric Pen and added two borders using the Spotlight text fabric and Madrona Road by Violet Craft for Michael Miller. I found a scary font and penned the words,’Too Scary Mary’ on some more white solid and appliquéd it to the pillow. The finished pillow is 17″ which fitted comfortably a 16″ insert.

Some spooky quilting (as seen from the back).

I overcame my fear of zips and piping and completed the pillow casing with a hidden zip and trim.

Lastly, no gift is complete without a label.
If you want a copy of Mr Halloween Skull you can download the PDF here. (Sorry, I am no graphic artist so I just scanned it in as is. Any advice how to scan it on a pure white background would be welcomed.) a lovely person, Sonja Callaghan has just cleaned up my scan and sent me a JPG. Thank you Sonja. Here is Sonja’s revised file.
What will you be making for Halloween?
