Pink with a Splash of Orange

May 16, 2012 by quiltjane 7 Comments

On the Moda Bake Shop today is my 7th project, ‘Pink with a Splash of Orange’. I combine brushed cottons from the Cape Ann collection, a charm pack and bella solids to create a baby quilt using a modern 12″ finished strip block.

I really enjoyed working with the brushed cottons from the Cape Ann collection by Oliver + S. They cut and sew beautifully and create a silky smooth texture within the quilt.

I found the block to be quite versatile and played around with layouts before finally settling on a simple diamond configuration.

For the quilting I used a medium apricot thread to pick up both the pink and orange in the quilt. I chose an intricate quilting pattern with feathers and flowers to make it very ‘girly’ and when washed would have that lovely crinkly look.
