Little Joys Quilt A Long

Aug 12, 2015 by quiltjane 2 Comments

IMG_2279Is anyone else feeling a little festive? I could not resist making this cute wall hanging from Elealutz Designs.

The quilt is made up of three blocks which can be found as a free pattern here until 14th August.

I used a Winter’s Lane layer cake by Kate & Birdie paper co for Moda.  I love the combinations of winter reds, icy blues, creams and forest brown.

The pattern requires a 10 1/2″ strip of fabric so I had to be naughty and cut on the diagonal of one of the layer cake pieces.

The binding is made up of 2 1/2″ x 10″ strips from the left over 10″ x 10″ squares.

I love the texture of the solid sashing and background. It is one of ‘my go’ to backgrounds, Grunge by Basic Grey.

The piece is machine quilted with Aurifil 2000 50wt thread and a splendid digital pattern with tiny pinwheels .

I didn’t warm to this in the reds and greens, but you’ve blown me away with your icier colour scheme and now I love it!

Thanks Jenny. I have always been a fan of icy blues and creams for Christmas.
