Christmas Runner – Fun Poinsettia

It was time to make a Christmas runner and the perfect pattern appeared on Jenny Pedigo’s blog called ‘Fun Poinsettias’. I love Jenny’s curved patterns all done with the wonderful Quick Curve ruler. The pattern is free, easy to follow and quick to make.
There is a Flickr site – The Fun Poinsettia Pool – where you can upload your finished projects. I can already see a few popping up on IG and FB in festive fabrics.
As it is a gift and I am not sure of the recipients decor, I used the beautiful neutrals found in Robert Kaufman’s Quilters Tussah and bound the runner with Laura Gunn’s painters canvas in an icy blue. To complement the binding I used Aurifil #2085 50wt cotton thread for the background quilting and #2000 for the poinsettias. The poly/wool wadding gives a lovely loft and emphasises the quilting patterns.
The backing is a print I picked up from Spotlight last year. It has that Scandinavian feel to it.

I saw this pattern on Jenny's blog yesterday and then saw yours and thought "Hey! I know that table runner!" lol I was curious to know if it was tedious at all. So thanks for sharing. I am sewing the binding on Jenny's Metro Rings quilt pattern today! So excited to have it on my sofa for Christmas!

The quilting on yours is so pretty and flows beautifully!

this is really pretty, I love the neutrals and the blue binding and the back is wonderful, it can be used on both sides. You did a lovely job with the FBQ. I have to go and get one of those rulers so I can try my first curved piece. Thanks for sharing.

What a pretty runner. I like the "motion" in it. You are very generous with your quilt giving from the last post. They are fantastic and I'm sure that the teachers were very happy.
