The Bob Bag
Today is my turn in the Bob-A-Long blog hop hosted by Angie at GnomeAngel. Angie is a very talented quilter, baker, blogger and the fearless leader of the Fussy Cutting FB Club. I designed this little box and bag to hold bobbins of my favourite Aurifil threads for my on the go projects, such as appliqué and EPP.
Tips
- While the box pattern can include the bolts for holding the thread, I made another with no holes as a wonder clip bag.
- For the box insert I used the white cardboard from a Layer Cake. Template Plastic works well too. Whatever you use, ensure you can punch a hole through it and it can keep its shape when supporting the bolts and bobbins.
- If you don’t have 1″ twill, try making your own 1″ wide bands. Peta will be including this technique in her tutorial during the hop.
- Make more than one box to fill with different project notions and threads to insert into a single bag.
The pattern can be made in under 2 hours. Finishing at 4″ x 2 1/4″ x 4″ it makes a great gift for your stitching friends and a nice swap project. The pattern can be purchased here.

Great bags!! Love the measuring tape twill!! And if someone doesn't have twill tape, the twill used to tie up the fat quarter and fat eighth bundles from Moda are twill tape. They could just be seamed together along the long edges to make the 1" width that is needed. Hugs, H in Healdsburg
