Tumbling In
I was lucky enough to receive a Baby GO! with three dies. I have been very impressed with the Baby GO!’s portability and ease of use. It is a very simple and effective way to cut fabric. I love how the corners are already trimmed ready to sew.

One of my favourite one-patch blocks is the tumbler so I decided to make a 10″ finished block using this humble shape with my new Baby GO!

Modified Tumbler Blocks
Cut 4 x 3.5″ finished tumblers.

Take four 5″ charm squares and cut them into 2 x 2.5″ pieces.
Sew the 2.5″ pieces onto either side of the tumbler.
Trim the block back to 4.5″ x 3.5″. Make sure you find the centre of the tumbler by folding in half lengthwise and finger pressing.
You will have 4 modified tumbler blocks.
Centre Block
To make the 9-path centre block, sew three 2.25″ squares together. Use a contrasting fabric for your centre square.
Trim back to 4.5″ remembering to measure from the centre so block is even.
Add a 2.25″ x 4.5″ rectangle to the top and bottom of your 3 squares and trim back to a 4.5″ square.
Corner blocks
Cut 4 x 3.5″ squares.
Joining the rows
First and third rows – join a 3.5″ square to either side of a modified tumbler block.
Middle row – Add a modified tumbler block to either side of the 9-patch block. Make sure your match seams as shown in picture below.
Voila, a 10.5″ unfinished block.
Here is what it would look like as a quilt.
