I am therefore iQuilt
Moda Bake Shop are having a Show off your stash linky party where you can show off your quilting space and how you store your fabric.
My space became ‘My Space’ when we closed in the double garage to house my long arm machine. It is a wonderful haven where I can escape into creativity in the form of design, sewing and long arm quilting. It is frequented by my family and Jasper my poodle, where they just sit, play and chat while I work.

Jasper has excellent taste in threads |
This is my office /design niche. It doesn’t always look like this but it wouldn’t be a creative space if it did not have some chaos to it.
I love the soft, beachy hues of pale turquoise and white with a dash of warm red. The wall and floor are neutral so I add colour within the room when required.
Years ago I had a cabinetry maker put together a sewing table and an pressing table with basket storage underneath. On my wish list for next year is a large cutting and basting table where I can layout a quilt (Pending a Lotto win).
I have a lovely view into the bushland behind the house. |
I hang the scissors on a cup stand and some rulers on wooden ruler stands |
The rest of the rulers are on hooks at the end of the table. |
Tania’s Chair Covers – very posh |
Silky Oak Tub Chair. I find all these gems second hand. A good sanding and coat of Shellac or Polyurethane, new upholstery and a place to be useful is all they need. |
I love my pressing table because I can iron wide pieces of material (When it is not cluttered with all my projects). The drawers make a handy storage area for my yardage stash.
These cupboards were removed from the kitchen when we renovated last year. They make an excellent vessel for my threads and fabrics.
All the WIP sitting in boxes on top of the cupboard. |
I have some tall baskets to house the interfacing and fusible media.
Behind sliding doors, I have a little e-shop where I sell Moda pre-cuts and a notions. I was lucky enough to inherit the storage area from the old garage which has floor to ceiling shelving. It is a clean, dry area to keep my stock, stationery and wadding rolls.
I wish I could keep them all! |
The long arm takes up most the room in my sewing space. I run a long arm business and have had the privilege to quilt for some gorgeous ladies and their quilts.
Well, that was a simple tour of my little piece of quilting paradise. I still have to mount a design wall and add a few hooks around the place to hang the odd trinket or two so I guess it will always be a work in progress.

Your room is very lovely and so neat! I have a large room, but it needs a good paint job and I haven't found the right layout yet. You have given me some inspiration!

Good thing I don't have a larcenous tendency! I love your space and Jasper! I incorporate some of your ideas already and will analyze other ideas to see if/how I can implement them.
