Hexagons 101 at Chasing Cottons
This Giveaway is now closed.
Rebecca at Chasing Cottons is hosting Quilt Class 101 and for the next two days I will be presenting – English Paper Pieced Hexagons. Todays topic introduces the technique and tomorrow I will showing you how to make a hexie flower.
Tomorrow, as part of the Quilt Class 101 fun, I will be giving one lucky blogger a chance to win a beginners Hexaculture pack.
The pack includes:
- one spool Bottom Line thread
- Three packs of 50wt cotton threads on the bobbins
- A fabulous sample pack from Joanne at PbPatch with freezer paper, card and paper templates
- one fussy cut template from my little shop
- and 2.5″ strips of gorgeous fabric from the Innocent Crush collection.
All you have to do is leave a comment on this post telling me –
‘What fabric collection would you use to make a hexagon garden?’
Please leave me a way to contact you. Giveaway ends 21st September 2011 AEST. Good luck!

First, if I am not eligible because I do not have a blog, then disregard my 'entry' for the awesome prize package.
But, I do hope that I am still eligible. Since I first started reading about quilting a little more than a year ago to learn as much as I could I have loved the hexies. I was unable to locate quilt classes locally so I turned to all of you awesome bloggers who are so wonderful sharing your love of the quilting world to everyone. I can't ever thank all of your for the wonderful tutorials and all that I've learned from each of you. I've now finally located a shop locally and just finished my 3rd of 6 beginning quilt piecing classes and am having a blast.
I have yet to do any hexies but they are up near the top of my 'want to make' list and winning this package would surely get me on my way to crossing that off my list.
You said you like stitching to the center hexie first and then connecting the sides; I wondered if you do them that way because it's easier to get to the center one that way or if there is another reason. I'd love to know more because I've seen others say differently. Anyway, thank you very much for the awesome tutorial. They really do help so much when there are such great pictures to go along with the instructions.
Lisa
I have a serious love of all Tula Pink's designs on fabric! I have a great stash of Parisville that would look so awesome as hexies!!

Hi Quiltjane, I am a new follower of yours. I found you through Chasing Cotton, which I found through Madam Samm's Sew WE Quilt. You have such an amazing blog. Just love it. I have an old hex Grandmas Flower Garden quilt top I got from my grandmothers hope chest. Not sure if she made it or her mother made it. I plan on finishing it and giving it to my sister.
Thanks for the giveaway.
