Bloggers Quilt Festival
The Bloggers Quilt Festival is one of my favourite events of the year. Amy hosts this event two seasons a year. Today I will be adding my Nested Churn Dash quilt to Spring festival.
I enjoy designing and making all my quilts but this one made me feel like Spring had sprung as Autumn was beginning in the southern hemisphere. Armed with my nested churn dash pattern and the beautiful April Showers and Happy Go Lucky collections by Bonnie and Camille from Moda, I whipped up this 80″ x 80″ quilt. I give away most of my quilts but there are a few that I cannot part with. I think this quilt will be my very own girlie quilt. In a house of males I rarely get to have pretty things.
The Nested Churn Dash block is a 24″ x 24″ block. When I designed it, I could not help but think of the nested Babushka Russian dolls or a scenario from a Dr Seuss book – the block, within a block, on top of a block in a block, around a block (or something like that).
The little label was made using a spare 4″x 4″ churn dash block and a border of Moda twill from the F8 bundle I used.
The backing is from a bolt of Dream On by Urban Chiks for Moda.
Quilted using Aurifil 2105 50wt cotton and nested flower design.

Lovely quilt, glad you're keeping it. You've got to keep the girly stuff sometimes, I live in a house of men too so I know where you're coming from! Good luck!

Cool pattern! I like that it almost looks like a log cabin variation until you look a little closer.

I just popped over from the Blogger's Quilt Festival to get a better look at this beauty! I was so drawn to the beautiful, soft colors :o) Fun for you to keep a nice girly quilt for yourself…I need to do the same as most of my quilts head out the door, too. Really beautiful!
