Simply Fatquarters Showcase Tour and Giveaway

How excited was I to be asked to re-create one of the quilts featured in Simply Fat Quarters, the first published book from the team at It’s Sew Emma. I am a huge fan of the Fatquartershop and the design team who create the fantastic It’s Sew Emma patterns. Simply Fat Quarters includes 10 fat quarter quilts in four sizes (crib, lap, twin and king) with a variety of styles perfect for quilters of all skill levels.
‘Zap’ is the quilt featured here on the back cover of the book on the left.

I selected the Twin size quilt (78″ x 89 1/2″) using the divine Art Gallery fabrics by Pat Bravo, ‘Indie’ and Pure Elements ‘Mirage Blue‘ for the background, Mandarin Dynasty for the backing and Dusk Afro Fusion for the Binding.

The luxurious Art Gallery fabrics are beautiful to cut and sew, just perfect for this project. The Zap pattern was simple to make using the easy to follow and excellently written, instructions by Sarah Price. A wonderful project for the confident beginner to seasoned quilter, this quilt would be a beautiful addition to any home to be loved, used and cherished for years to come.

Zap was pieced with Aurifil 2805 50wt cotton and quilted with Superior Art Studio #208 40wt polyester with Aurifil 2805 in the bobbin. I selected a very fun and girly, flowery and feathery design accompanied by Matildas Own Wool/Poly wadding to provide warmth and moderate loft.

Don’t forget to visit the last three sites to see their beautiful quilts from the book.

I would like to extend a big thank you to the team at It’s Sew Emma for inviting me to make one of their gorgeous patterns and showcase it today. I feel very privileged.
If you would like to win a copy of the book and a kit to make my version of the Zap quilt please leave a comment. Any comment will do.
Well, I’m off to Houston in 2 days to attend my first quilt market (Eeeeeek! So excited). I will be sure to post some pictures and keep you all informed by Twitter, Facebook and blogger. I am only taking carry on luggage and have sworn to myself I will not buy any fabric. We will see how long that lasts.
P.S This quilt will be travelling to Houston with me to be used as a folded sample quilt in the Art Gallery booth.
